A front-page story by Jeff Buell announced that the second annual Troy Waterfront Farmers’ Market would open that Saturday along the Hudson River and run every Saturday, rain or shine, until Oct. 27. Market representative Matt Lindstrom said more than 35 vendors would take part, selling everything from carrots and chocolates to parsnips and peas, along with naturally raised meats and free-range eggs. New that year were a weekly Music@the Market series and “Kids’ Day Every Day” activities, plus a community table hosting groups such as TRIP, the Junior Museum, Habitat for Humanity and the Troy Public Library. Only vendors who make their own products could take part; Trish Terry of Genesis Way Bakery spoke about the sense of community. On the jump page, Mayor Mark Pattison said he enjoyed the market the year before. Hours were 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the story gave www.troymarket.org and 785-7054 for information.

“The Troy Waterfront Farmers’ Market is great for Troy. It provides a community destination for families to come together and meet different people.”

— Matt Lindstrom, in The Record
