Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno secured $10,000 in the 2004–2005 state budget for the Troy Waterfront Farmers’ Market, to pay for a permanent office and more community outreach and programming across its 52 markets a year: a site-improvement study, newsletters, a website and market table, and research on a second market at another location. The story noted the market’s four straight “Best Farmers’ Market” wins in Metroland, its 2003 “best food festival” title from Hudson Valley magazine, its place in a Ford Foundation and Project for Public Spaces study of farmers’ markets’ economic impact, and its winter home in the Uncle Sam Atrium.
“Senator Bruno’s tremendous support of the Troy Waterfront Farmers’ Market has allowed us to grow into a year-round local food festival with over 70 vendor members.”
