The Times Union reported that the market expected to stay in its winter home at the Uncle Sam Atrium through the summer, because a hotel and conference center were proposed for the riverfront parking lot by the Hedley Building that had been its warm-weather site since 2000. Jamie Felitte, who ran the market with his wife, Jennifer, said the market wanted an outdoor element and hoped to expand onto the sidewalk and possibly Third Street; he and board member Dick Shave were to meet with the mayor about a location. Mayor Harry Tutunjian said closing Third Street, a major downtown artery, every Saturday would be difficult because of other businesses there, but that sidewalks or Front Street by City Hall were possibilities, and that the city had always wanted the market closer to downtown.

“That’s what we really want to push, to have that outdoors element. That’s so important to many people coming to the market.”
