A feature on heirloom tomatoes centered on Suzi Place of Winnegamont Farm in Schaghticoke, who grows and saves seed for more than 60 varieties and sells them, with their histories, at the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market on Saturdays. The Times Union described Place offering samples of heirloom tomatoes to customers at the market and recounted the stories behind varieties such as the Paul Robeson, the Sun Gold and the Aunt Ruby’s German Green.

“I do think that we will whittle down. I say this every year.”
