The Times Union reported that TWFM had dropped plans for a temporary summer move to Riverfront Park during construction at 1 Monument Square and would stay on River Street, working around the construction; board president Seth Jacobs announced the decision. Many businesses had signed a petition to keep the market on River Street. The story also noted that the River Street location had its critics: some farmers grumbled about getting trucks in and out, and some stores beyond the market complained about lost parking and access and little spinoff business, complaints the market had largely resolved. At the time, the planned 1 Monument Square project was to include a permanent home for the market.
“We’re really glad to be in a community where everybody gets it that the market is not in competition” with businesses downtown.
— Seth Jacobs, president of the market’s board of directors, in the Times Union
