Previewing the market’s third season, opening May 4 and running Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through November at the marina just north of the Green Island Bridge, the Times Union reported that 45 member vendors would offer new herb specialties, more ready-to-eat food and organic produce, joined by live music, chef and gardening demonstrations, children’s crafts and community tables staffed by nonprofits such as Habitat for Humanity and Unity House. The market, a project of the Regional Farm & Food Project, featured food and crafts from within 50 miles. Board president Matthew Lindstrom, who led a nine-member volunteer board, said the market had tripled attendance and doubled its vendors the year before, and credited a grant from state Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno and support from the city and the Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway. Manager Amy Halloran spoke about freshness, fair pay for farmers and the market as a community gathering space.

“It has grown in quality and quantity.”

— Matthew Lindstrom, president of the market’s volunteer board, in the Times Union
