The Times Union reported on two state Regional Council grants for downtown Troy: $550,000 in 2013 for the Tech Valley Center of Gravity makerspace and $1.5 million in 2014 to the developer of a permanent home for TWFM, toward the $2.8 million market project at the former City Hall site on Monument Square. Board president Seth Jacobs described a ground-floor space of 14,000 to 17,000 square feet with a commercial kitchen, refrigerated storage and garage-style doors opening to the street and a riverside deck, and said he hoped to break ground in the spring and possibly move in in 2016. The story noted the market still needed to raise the rest of the money. (The market later withdrew from the project.)

“We’re over the moon to have gotten that much from the state. It should help convince other donors that we’re serious.”

— Seth Jacobs, board president, in the Times Union
