Thirteen years after it began, the market had become a regional destination and needed a permanent home, board president Seth Jacobs said. Whether it was in Riverfront Park or on River Street, it kept getting moved for other events, most recently the River Street Festival. Board member Greg Kerber of The Rad Soap Company said summer crowds of 4,000 to 7,000 people put Troy in a league with markets like New York City’s Union Square, but a rainy day could more than halve the crowds and leave vendors with about 30 percent of their normal sales. Manager Monica Kurzejeski said the board was looking for a Troy property with outdoor space for summer and a sheltered indoor area for winter and bad weather.
“Your location is your brand.”
