The Times Union reported that Mayor Lou Rosamilia had announced a $27 million plan to redevelop the old City Hall site at 1 Monument Square, led by Kirchhoff Companies, Sequence3 Development and CSArch, with 50-plus luxury apartments, a 175-space parking garage and a year-round home for TWFM on the first floor of the northern building. Nearby merchants welcomed it, and City Council President Rodney Wiltshire said he was impressed. The story noted this was the city’s third attempt to redevelop the site; the first two stalled over financing questions, and this time the city said it was assured the partnership had access to the money. Board president Seth Jacobs said the market would study similar waterside markets and that several large producers were interested in selling downtown daily.
“It’s something we’ve all been waiting for.”
