The Times Union reported that state and city officials were assembling a $22.5 million plan to give TWFM a permanent year-round home at 1 Monument Square, with the market as the anchor alongside a commercial kitchen incubator, a restaurant and expanded riverfront park access; housing and a parking garage were dropped. Funding would combine $19 million in state money, $2 million in city ARPA funds and $1.5 million the market had received in government funding, with a goal of starting construction in 2025. Mayor Carmella Mantello stressed it was “just a conceptual plan,” and Council President Sue Steele said it was “short on details” but that she wanted an end to the hole downtown.
“The market has always thought that 1 Monument Square would be a wonderful site to have a permanent home.”
