TROY, N.Y. — The Troy Waterfront Farmers Market heads indoors to the Troy Atrium this Saturday, as temperatures start to steadily drop as the winter months approach.

The winter market is held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from November through April and features most of the 100 vendors from its popular outdoor market, according to a press release.

Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello said this year’s outdoor market was a great success, and she looks forward to it moving indoors as colder weather begins. She added that she encourages residents and visitors to continue shopping locally.

“It’s always a sign that the colder weather is approaching when our incredible Troy Waterfront Farmers Market moves indoors,” she said. “After another tremendous outdoor season, we’re excited to continue welcoming residents and visitors every weekend.”

“I encourage everyone to come out, shop local, and support our hardworking farmers, small business owners, and talented local makers,” she added. “The Farmers Market is such an important part of what makes Troy special, and moving indoors doesn’t mean the fun or community spirit has to stop.”

Steve Ridler, manager of the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market, said that more shoppers come to the winter market each year.

“More and more people understand that we are a 52-week-a-year market,” Ridler said in the release. “Last year we saw many more familiar faces from our summer customers who returned for the quality produce and great variety of products throughout the winter.”

New this winter, the Troy Atrium is home to a 14-foot wooden fish drum built by Troy woodworker Jim Lewis of Springwood Studios, the release said. The drum debuted at Troy Night Out on Oct. 30, and stays in the building through the winter market season, where it serves as part of the stage for the market’s musicians.

The Troy Atrium is located in downtown Troy with entrances on 3rd Street, Broadway, and 4th Street.

Free parking is available in the City’s 5th Ave Parking Garage, Riverfront Park, the Green Island Bridge lots, and on city streets. For a parking map, visit https://www.troymarket.org/parking.

No dogs are allowed in the Atrium, with exceptions made for service animals, the release said.

The market will also hold its Holiday Market on Sunday, Dec. 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Troy Atrium. The Holiday Market will feature local makers and artisans, plus prepared foods and live music.
