The story covered the new Fulton-Montgomery Farmers’ Market Association, formed to revive the Johnstown, Gloversville and Amsterdam markets by copying the success of the markets in Saratoga Springs and Troy. On the jump, market manager Amy Halloran described the Troy market’s opening day the weekend before, and the paper’s hours box listed it at the Troy Town Dock and Marina, Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Nov. 23.
By the end of opening day at the Troy Waterfront Farmers’ Market last weekend, market manager Amy Halloran said many of the 19 vendors had sold all of the goods brought in that day. Halloran said the customer base doubled since the market, situated next to the Troy marina downtown, opened two years ago. That first year, Halloran said there were between 200 and 300 customers per week, rising to between 400 and 700 per week the following year.
“So many people want to know who is making their food,” she said.
