The Sunday front page marked the kickoff of the market’s 2002 season with two photos by J.S. Carras and a short story. Anne Taylor and Shirley Fischer, both of Troy, looked over herbs and spices at the market on River Street, and Don Lennon and Lisa Graham also looked over the goods. The story said the seasonal weather and fresh produce drew many area residents to the site, described the market as “a producer-only marketplace along the Hudson,” and said it would be held each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Nov. 23, with vegetables and fruits in season, plants, herbs and flowers, meat, poultry, eggs, bread, maple syrup and honey.
“TROY — The waterfront was where the “farm met the city” on Saturday.”
