This Times Union visual history traced the failed attempts to redevelop the former City Hall site at 1 Monument Square, empty for nearly 15 years. It recounted that Kirchhoff Companies’ 2014 plan included TWFM before being downsized after the city dropped City Hall from it and the market pulled out, and that the sixth attempt, announced on New Year’s Eve 2024, would make the market the anchor, using $19 million in state funding, $2 million in city ARPA money and $1.5 million the market had received in government funding.

Kirchhoff downsized to one building and eliminated the public parking garage after the city scratched city hall from the plan and the farmers market pulled out.
