Advisory: Troy Waterfront Farmers Market Returns to Troy Atrium

Troy Waterfront Farmers Market Returns to Troy Atrium
Masks Will Be Required Regardless of Vax Status, Normal Capacity Limits, New Layout

- No Plans for Return of Online Market

TROY, N.Y. (11/03/21) — The Troy Waterfront Farmers Market returns to the Troy Atrium for the winter this Saturday Nov. 6. The winter market is held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features most of the vendors from its popular outdoor market.

The Troy Atrium is located in downtown Troy with entrances on Fulton Street, 3rd Street, Broadway and 4th Street. Free parking is available in the City's 5th Street Parking Garage, Riverfront Park, the Green Island Bridge lots and on city streets. Drop off and pick up zones will be available at each entrance.

No dogs are allowed in the Atrium, with exceptions made for service animals.

Sampling food from vendors is permitted.

There will be no capacity restrictions, but masks will be required regardless of vaccination status. Masks will be available at the entrances.

“Part of the reason why we don’t have to enforce smaller capacity limits is because we are requiring masks. Otherwise we would need to limit capacity so that social distancing can be achieved,” said Steve Ridler, manager of Troy Waterfront Farmers Market.

The market will be expanding on the first floor to include an indoor dining area where customers will be able to eat prepared food from vendors.

Last year, the winter market moved to a temporary location in the former Lansingburgh Price Chopper.

Also last year, the TWFM provided an online ordering and pickup option in Green Island. There are no plans, at this moment, to bring back TWFM online.

Addendum - A Note on Masks and Capacity

While New York State’s health guidance and industry specific guidelines have been relaxed, businesses are free to: choose to lift all or some COVID-19 restrictions; continue to adhere to the State's archived guidance; or implement other health precautions for their employees and patrons. The Troy Waterfront Farmers Market continues to follow CDC guidance for staff, vendors and customers.

The CDC has identified that Community Transmission of COVID-19 in Rensselaer County is high and that everyone should wear a mask in public indoor settings.

As a regional attraction, TWFM is looked on to bear responsibility for ensuring the safety of our community and to provide reassurance to customers who are still concerned about COVID-19, such as the elderly, immune-compromised and families with young children.

As TWFM can be at times a crowded indoor setting where vaccinated and unvaccinated people will be in close proximity to each other and vaccine status is unknown, TWFM requires that all staff, vendors and customers, whether vaccinated or not, wear masks and practice social distancing.

TWFM will continue to monitor capacity at the market. As CDC guidance is updated, TWFM will adjust its own requirements.
