A decade after ‘The Voice,’ Sawyer Fredericks is settled at home in Troy (Times Union)
This story by Steve Barnes was published in the Times Union on April 16, 2025.
The Times Union profiled Sawyer Fredericks, who won NBC’s “The Voice” in 2015 and has lived in Troy for several years, ahead of his album “No Need to Wonder,” released April 22, 2025. The story opens at the Troy farmers market, then in its winter home at the Troy Atrium. Fredericks visits most Saturdays, and he snacks on a Caribbean curry chicken hand pie, chats with shoppers, many of whom don’t recognize him, and sometimes turns up unannounced as one of the market’s rotating acoustic musicians. The rest of the profile covers his life in Troy, his career since the show and the new album. In the accompanying video, he sings along with musicians performing at the market.
