Market manager Liz Hammond joined Hudson Mohawk Magazine on WOOC 105.3 FM in the market’s 18th year to talk about its vendors, most of them farmers, its 100-mile limit (most come from within 50 miles), its move into the Atrium in November, and its last outdoor day of the season.
She was candid about the industry: “Farmers markets nationally are experiencing a downturn in customer attendance and overall sales,” she said, so managers have to think of the market as a cultural experience as well as a place to shop. She also said the market had no partnerships with local shelters or soup kitchens at that time.
